PSG Set To Offload 11 Players, Including Neymar, During Transfer Window
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the French Ligue 1 champions, have allegedly decided to release eleven players during the summer transfer window.
According to Naija News, PSG is seeking to rebuild and boost its roster ahead of the upcoming season.
According to MARCA, the French club is considering selling striker Mauro Icardi and the midfield quartet of Ander Herrera, Leandro Paredes, and Idrissa Gueye, among others.
Among the eleven PSG players on the transfer list are defenders Thilo Kehrer and Abdou Diallo, goalkeepers Sergio Rico and Marcin Bulka, and attacker Arnaud Kalimuendo.
The fate of Brazilian superstar Neymar and midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum are also in doubt at PSG, which is undergoing a complete overhaul.
Luis Campos, PSG’s new sporting director, is allegedly interested in rejuvenating the team during the current transfer window, after the appointment of Christophe Galtier as the club’s new manager earlier this week.
According to Naija News, Galtier joined PSG as a substitute for previous manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino, the Argentine strategist, will leave PSG on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
Pochettino took over as manager of PSG in January 2021. Despite having an all-star lineup that included Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Mbappe, the former player failed to capture the Champions League championship for PSG.
During his debut season, the Argentine finished second in the league and won the Coupe de France.
The French giants confirmed Pochettino’s departure from the club last Tuesday, saying: “Paris Saint-Germain affirm that Mauricio Pochettino has concluded his job at the club.”
“We’d like to congratulate Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for their efforts and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
