kalidou koulibaly goal is the same with john terry’s

Chelsea fans lauded new center-back Kalidou Koulibaly for scoring his first goal for the club against London rivals Tottenham on Sunday. The Senegal international joined the Blues from Serie A side Napoli in a move worth over £30 million this summer.

The defender became Stamford Bridge’s second men’s senior team signing of the new Boehly-Clearlake era, having long been linked with a move to the Premier League. As part of a massive squad restructure, the 31-year-old was brought in to replace the departing Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

“I’m really thrilled to be here at Chelsea with this club,” Koulibaly said in a statement. “It’s a big team in the world, and it’s always been my ambition to play in the Premier League. Chelsea came first in 2016 to acquire me, but we didn’t make it. When they approached me, I accepted since they were desperate for me to join them in the Premier League.”

The towering defender recorded a clean sheet in his first league appearance against Everton and made his home debut against Tottenham. Koulibaly scored a fantastic volley after latching onto a corner after 19 minutes during his maiden appearance at Stamford Bridge.

After the goal, fans took to social media to express themselves:

@Techedge: “Koulibaly looking exactly like John Terry inside the box during corner kicks. Tears in my eyes man. That legendary No.26 is in safe hands.”

@Lekan2648: “Koulibaly is carrying on John Terry’s legacy at Chelsea with the jersey number 26.”

@Durant3Lorenzo: “So happy the world can finally see how talented Koulibaly is, the best CB in the world people.”

@Techedgeict: “Better than Rudiger.”
