More difficulties for Ayu as the PDP NWC calls for an investigation into the party’s finances.
PDP NWC: Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) call for an investigation of the party’s finances.
According to Techedgeict, certain PDP NWC members are upset because the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has failed to account for some money that have accrued to the party.
According to a source, the PDP leaders have demanded an audit of the N1 billion that the party received from friends of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to the source, PDP NWC members want Ayu to account for the monies raised for the party through the sale of forms and donations.
“Some NWC members demand an audit for around N1 billion that the party received from Atiku supporters, in addition to donations from governors and the selling of nomination forms,” a source said.
During a meeting with Atiku, Wike’s camp demanded Ayu’s resignation.
The camp of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has reportedly requested that the PDP National Chairman quit.
According to Techedge, the Wike camp made the demand during a meeting between the PDP presidential candidate and Rivers governor.
According to the governor’s supporters, the resignation of the PDP chairman is the only way to heal the schism between Atiku and Wike and take the party ahead.
They labeled Ayu as a divisive figure and stated that he would need to resign in order for the opposition party to be united.
