How to order the New AirPods Pro 09/09/2022
The iPhone 14, a ruggedized Apple Watch, and an updated version of the AirPods Pro were all introduced at Apple’s “Far Out” event on Wednesday. The second-generation AirPods Pro will be available for preorder on September 23rd for $249.99. Apple will continue to sell the entry-level AirPods for $179; however, it appears that Apple will discontinue the original AirPods Pro with the release of the second-generation model.
Aesthetically, not much has changed from the previous AirPods Pro iteration, with the new model sporting the same pearly white exterior as the original model from 2019. The noise-canceling earbuds retain the MagSafe-compatible charging case introduced by Apple last year. However, Apple has made some interesting hardware changes that make the second-generation AirPods Pro the company’s most impressive earbuds to date.
To begin with, Apple claims that the new AirPods Pro can provide up to six hours of continuous playback with noise cancellation enabled, or an additional 30 with the included charging case. The updated H2 chip in the 2022 model enables an improved Adaptive Transparency mode, better noise cancellation, and swipe controls on the stems for controlling playback. Both the earbuds and Apple’s new Find My-ready charging case have built-in speakers that will alert you to their location if you misplace them.
We haven’t had a chance to fully test Apple’s new AirPods Pro, but you can read our initial hands-on impressions of the new earbuds here.
HOW TO ORDER THE SECOND-GENERATION AIRPODS PRO
The second-generation AirPods Pro buds are now available for preorder for $249.99. The original AirPods Pro were $249 when they were released, but they have since been replaced by their second-generation counterparts on the Apple website. If you want to upgrade to the new AirPods Pro before they go on sale on September 23rd, you can do so directly from Apple right now. For the time being, Apple is the only retailer looking to open preorders for the new pair of earbuds, but we’ll update this post if Amazon, Best Buy, or any other retailer starts selling the earbuds ahead of their release date.
