Olanrewaju James, a Nollywood actor, has requested post-conviction bail from an Ikeja Domestic and Sexual Violence Court until the hearing and conclusion of his appeal before the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 16 years in jail for child defilement by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in July.

The charges leveled against Baba Ijesha: He was convicted of four of the six counts leveled against him by the Lagos State Government.

The actor was sentenced to prison for child defilement, indecent treatment of a kid, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault through penetration.

Baba Ijesha’s sentence: The defendant is serving a five-year concurrent prison sentence.

Baba Ijesha tries to get out of prison: Baba Ijesha, who appeared in court on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, requested another stay of execution pending appeal.

During the hearing, Chukwudi Adiukwu informed the court that they had submitted an application for bail awaiting appeal in accordance with Section 6 (6) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

Adiukwu contended that section 51 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Lagos State 2015, gives the court the authority to accept the applicant to bail, either unconditionally or on reasonable terms.

He stated that allowing their application would be in the best interests of justice.
