Selena Gomez raises eyebrows by unfollowing Zayn Malik the Hadid sisters and Dua Lipa on Instagram
Gomez and Malik were rumoured to be dating last March after they were seen out to dinner in New York City
Selena Gomez has unfollowed Zayn Malik, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Dua Lipa on Instagram, causing followers to speculate as to why.
The 30-year-old “Wolves” singer went viral recently after fans saw she had unfollowed the former One Direction member on Instagram. When Gomez and Malik were photographed eating dinner together in New York City in March, they were rumored to be dating. Many admirers, however, assumed that the recent unfollow signified that the two were no longer together.
“Selena Gomez has unfollowed Zayn, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, and Dua Lipa on Instagram,” celebrity rumor account Pop Tingz tweeted on Sunday (June 25), while Pop Faction said Gomez also unfollowed Zendaya.
The news of Gomez’s latest unfollowing spree rapidly circulated on social media, with one person declaring that the Only Murders in the Building star “wants drama so bad” by unfollowing the celebrities on Instagram.
Many people couldn’t help but notice Gomez’s complex relationship with her unfollow list. While the Disney Channel alum dated Malik briefly, the former boy band member is the father of Khai, a two-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
Following his separation with Gigi Hadid’s younger sister Bella Hadid in 2017, the Rare Beauty creator dated fellow musician The Weeknd for ten months. Meanwhile, Gomez is best friends with Nicola Peltz Beckham, who is Dua Lipa’s ex-boyfriend Anwar Hadid.
Fans, on the other hand, defended her. Many fans argued that Gomez was not causing drama by unfollowing the celebrities on Instagram, while others pointed out that the “Who Says” singer promptly re-followed Dua Lipa once word of her unfollowing spree leaked.

In a statement to People, a source clarified that any rumours of drama between Gomez and Zayn Malik, Dua Lipa, and the Hadids were unfounded. “There are absolutely no hard feelings with anyone she unfollowed,” they said.
It also appears that Gomez and Malik were never a couple. Gomez disclosed she was single earlier this month in a humorous TikTok video taken at a soccer game. In the video, she can be seen standing on the sidelines, yelling to the players, “I’m single!”
“I’m just a little demanding!” “But I’m going to love you so much,” she continued. Gomez said in the TikTok video’s caption, “The struggle man lol.”
This is not the first time Gomez has been linked to a celebrity conflict. She made news this year for her purported 10-year romance with model Hailey Bieber. Because of Gomez’s on-again, off-again romance with Justin Bieber from 2010 to 2018, the two stars have frequently been pitted against one another. Just months after their divorce in May 2018, the “Baby” singer married Hailey in September of same year.
Hailey Bieber responded to Gomez’s comments with her own. “I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing for the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.
