Selena Gomez resides in a massive Los Angeles property with an interesting past. The house, which was once owned by musician Tom Petty, has experienced a lot over the course of its three-decade lifetime, including crazy parties, a huge fire that nearly destroyed it, and the renowned Stevie Nicks.

Selena Gomez stealthily moved into a large estate in Encino, Los Angeles, last year, while the entire globe was under quarantine.

She paid $4.9 million for the house, and it appears to have been a wise investment.

The enormous house, which spans 11,500 square feet, is impressive. It includes a stunning resort-style backyard and six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

It has a lengthy gated road at the end of a cul-de-sac, situated on.87 acres of property, and provides the celebrity with much-needed seclusion from admirers and paparazzi.

The mansion’s fascinating history adds to its value in addition to its additional square footage and stunning rooms.

The estate was first constructed in 1989, and Tom Petty was the previous owner. Gomez was drawn to the property naturally because she is a musician. The singer acknowledged to Zane Lowe that she often wonders who lived in her house before her.

“It’s that spirit, and knowing Stevie Nicks was here. There’s so much history, so when I’m in that zone, I feel like it’s very special.”

From Grand Prairie all the way to Encino

From the straightforward existence she led in her native Grand Prairie, Texas, Selena has come a long way. Before she became famous, the Disney actress spent her formative years in a modest 3-bedroom house. Her mother, who formerly battled to put food on the table, raised her.

Now, a few decades after her Barney days, Selena has established herself as one of the most popular young stars.

She has a successful career spanning music, acting, and entrepreneurship after launching her own makeup line, “Rare Beauty”.

Selena is still shockingly down to earth and modest despite having an estimated net worth of $75 million. She occasionally returns to the house she grew up in, and she even posted a photo of herself on the porch of her old home on Instagram.

Selena’s house almost burned down in the ’80s

The rich and intriguing history of Selena’s new Encino estate only serves to enhance its appeal.

Petty and his wife had the estate built specifically for them. The entire mansion nearly burned to the ground in the 1980s. The LA Daily News said that an arsonist sprayed the back wooden stairway with lighter fluid to help the fire spread quickly.

Breakfast was being eaten when Petty, his then-wife Jane Benyo, and their 5-year-old daughter noticed the scent of smoke. The first person to notice the flames, which were rapidly devouring the interiors, was Petty’s daughter. The family managed to flee safely, although their housekeeper was slightly hurt.

The entire home nearly caught fire, resulting in losses of roughly $400,000 and the destruction of Petty’s possessions worth $600,000. However, the basement where his music studio was located was unharmed by the fire.

Investigations indicate that the fire was started on purpose. Petty thinks his life was being attacked. The case hasn’t been resolved yet, even today.

Petty expanded the house after it was renovated. Ultimately, following their divorce, it was given to his wife.

Bankruptcy and a nightmare tenant

The house couldn’t be kept by Jane Benyo for very long. When she filed for bankruptcy, she was forced to list the house for $3.58 million. The house subsequently fell into foreclosure after failing to sell.

The home had to be rented out after legal wrangling. However, the tenant was a nightmare who hosted wild parties and even demanded entrance. He was ultimately removed from the property by police officials.

Before being put back on the market, the house required extensive renovations. Randy Spendlove, a music industry businessman, paid $4.85 million for the estate. It was a wonderful bargain for all parties involved that he only lived in the house for two years before selling it to Gomez for just $50,000 more than he paid for it.

Inside Selena Gomez’s house: farmhouse glam kitchen and cozy vibes

The kitchen, which has been shown on Selena Gomez’s HBO Max show Selena + Chef, is one of the mansion’s most noteworthy features.

In the unscripted culinary show, Gomez prepares several dishes with the assistance of a skilled chef who instructs her remotely.

Viewers got to view Sel’s magnificent kitchen, which has a lovely farmhouse glam aesthetic. The kitchen’s centerpiece is a stunning white brick-wall stove that houses the ovens and gas range. The farmhouse design of the room is complemented by the wooden beams and rustic chandelier that embellish the ceiling.

A huge L-shaped island with white marble countertops is located in the middle of the space. Some of the cabinets has flower knobs and dragonfly handles for a slightly quirky touch.

The kitchen room has a pleasant feel to it, which appears to match the house’s overall design aesthetic. Although the estate is vast and Selena’s largest home purchase to date, it yet exudes warmth and coziness.

The atmosphere has been successfully changed by the house’s new appearance and Gomez’s pleasant homemaking, wiping out all reminders of the building’s gloomy history.
