Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, which is already estimated to make $1 billion, has been extended in response to fan and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's requests
It turns out that Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, is a total Swiftie. In response to Taylor Swift‘s announcement of the 2024 Asia and Europe legs of her Eras Tour, Trudeau is making a plea to the pop star to include Canada in her itinerary. And he’s doing it in true Swiftie fashion.
In a tweet on Wednesday evening, Trudeau wrote: “It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.” If you’re not in the know, those words are references to lyrics from Swift’s songs “Anti-Hero“, “I Know Places,” and “Cruel Summer.”
Trudeau’s invitation came after Swift herself tweeted about adding 14 more shows to the European leg of her tour, with Paramore joining as the opening act. Swift expressed her excitement, writing: “I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore!! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Taylor starts the international dates in late August
Swift has been rocking the U.S. leg of her massive tour since March, and now she’s taking it international starting in late August, with dates scheduled until August of next year. She’ll be hitting up more than a dozen different countries, but so far, no love for Canada. The last time Swift graced Canadian soil was during her Reputation stadium tour back in 2018.
As of now, Taylor has not publicly responded to Trudeau’s tweet. Maybe Trudeau’s Swiftie dedication will pay off and Canada will be treated to some Swift magic.
